Bremen: Raid yields drug finds

On the night from Friday to Saturday, officers of the Bremen Police, together with Bremen’s public order service, once again carried out extensive control, presence and prevention measures around the main railway station and in the Steintor district. The operation covered the districts of Bremen-Mitte and Östliche Vorstadt and was expressly aimed at combating narcotics and weapons crime. At the same time, the authorities sought to strengthen the sense of security among people passing through these heavily frequented areas.

Joint operation at the main station and in the Steintor district

According to the press office of the Bremen Police, the units involved checked a total of 40 people between 24 July 2026 and 25 July 2026. The measures took place in the evening and night hours and targeted conspicuous behaviour as well as indications of possible drug dealing. The public order service supported the police with on-site presence and the enforcement of regulatory orders. Such joint operations are a fixed instrument of the authorities in hotspot areas around the station.

Officials stressed that checks in this area take place regularly and according to plan. The aim is to push back open drug scenes, remove weapons from public spaces and maintain public order. Arrest based on a warrant

During the checks, officers encountered a 47-year-old man who was wanted on an arrest warrant. They took him into custody and handed him over to the justice system. Aggressive behaviour on the station square

A further incident involved a 21-year-old man on the station square. He attracted attention through aggressive behaviour towards passers-by. Officers took him into custody and subsequently placed him temporarily in a psychiatric facility. The measure served to protect the public and the individual concerned. Whether there is a direct link to the narcotics finds is not stated in the police report.
