Kirn Police: Drugs and alcohol in road traffic
Throughout the entire jurisdiction of the Kirn Police Inspection, a series of traffic checks and operations took place over the past weekend in which alcohol, narcotics, and impaired driving ability played a central role. At the end of the weekend, officers drew up a balance sheet of numerous traffic violations and once again pointed out the dangers of alcohol and drug consumption behind the wheel. The operations extended across several locations in the region and included both classic traffic checks and follow-up operations after conspicuous behavior on the roads.
Traffic checks in Kirn with narcotics connection
In Kirn itself, police carried out several checks focusing particularly on the consumption of narcotics. A driver without a valid driving license was stopped. During the subsequent inspection, indications of narcotics consumption emerged. Appropriate police measures were initiated against the man. Driving without a valid license already constitutes a serious offense; in combination with possible drug consumption, the risk potential for other road users increases considerably.
In another case in Kirn, a car driver attracted attention during a routine traffic check due to drug-related signs of impairment. Officers conducted a urine test that reacted positively to THC. THC is the main active ingredient in cannabis and is considered a commonly detectable residue after the consumption of marijuana or hashish. In this case as well, the officers ordered a forensic blood sample to secure evidence. A positive rapid test serves as the starting point for further criminal and medical examinations.
Dispute and precautionary measures
Beyond classic traffic checks, an operation also took place in Kirn in connection with a dispute. An intoxicated person who appeared ready to drive was checked there. To prevent a possible drunk driving offense, officers precautionarily secured the vehicle key. This preventive measure is intended to prevent a person who is not yet fit to drive from immediately operating a vehicle after the operation. Resistance and alcohol in Monzingen
In Monzingen, a traffic check escalated when a driver showed acts of resistance. The man displayed alcohol-related signs of impairment and refused a breath alcohol test. Since he did not voluntarily submit to the police measure, officers used coercive means to carry out the check. In addition to the suspicion of drunk driving, the man must now also answer for resisting law enforcement officers in criminal proceedings. Resisting law enforcement officers can be punished severely in Germany and further worsens the legal situation of the person concerned.
A forensic blood sample was also taken as part of this measure. Police emphasize that refusal during checks not only complicates investigations but can also lead to additional criminal consequences. Dangerous driving on federal highway B41
On federal highway B41 in the Martinstein area, a heavily intoxicated female driver attracted attention through conspicuous driving behavior. Witnesses and officers observed swerving, running a red light, and a collision with a traffic island. The woman's driving license was seized on site. A blood sample was also taken here to further clarify blood alcohol content. Swerving and red light violations are considered classic signs of alcohol influence and frequently lead to immediate police measures to prevent accidents with serious consequences.
The collision with the traffic island underscores how quickly alcohol-related driving errors can lead to property damage and potential injuries. The immediate seizure of the driving license also prevents the driver from operating a motor vehicle again before the investigation is completed.
E-scooter check near Merxheim
Not only car drivers were the focus of the checks. On state road L232 near Merxheim, an e-scooter rider was stopped who was significantly under the influence of alcohol. Indications of technical modifications to the vehicle also emerged. The scooter was being operated at a significantly excessive speed. The electric micro-vehicle was seized for further technical inspection, while a blood sample was also ordered for the rider.
E-scooters in Germany are subject to strict regulations regarding speed, insurance, and technical condition. Riding under the influence of alcohol is punished just as severely as with motor vehicles. Technical modifications that lead to excessive speed can constitute additional administrative offenses or criminal offenses and are increasingly monitored by police.

As part of the respective measures, officers carried out forensic blood samples in all the cases mentioned. These serve for later forensic evaluation and can be used as a basis for criminal or administrative offense proceedings.
