Lippstadt: Narcotics seized in station op

On 6 August 2026, officers from the Lippstadt police station, together with officers from the Federal Police Inspection Münster, conducted a multi-hour focus operation in the area of Lippstadt railway station. The measure began at 12:00 and ended around 20:00. The aim was to strengthen security in the station area and to stop potential offences at an early stage. Mixed patrol teams from state and federal police intensively covered the Lippstadt duty area and carried out numerous identity checks.

Extensive checks at the station

During the eight-hour operation, 124 person checks were carried out in the station area and its immediate surroundings, among other measures. Officers checked identity documents, controlled suspicious persons and looked for indications of criminal offences. The joint presence of police and federal police was also intended to noticeably increase the subjective sense of security among travellers and passers-by. The authorities later emphasised that the operation had proceeded as planned and without major incidents.

In addition to the person checks, there were several residence investigations, one administrative offence report and nine cautionary fines. Particularly noteworthy is also the seizure of narcotics. The authorities did not name concrete quantities or types of substances in their statement. Nevertheless, the find shows that Lippstadt railway station remains a relevant control area in the fight against drug-related crime.

Irritant gas pistol seized without permit

One case involved a 19-year-old Polish national from Kamen. He was checked upon arrival at Lippstadt railway station. Officers found an irritant gas pistol carried ready for use without the required PTB marking and without a valid permit. The weapon was seized. The young man behaved uncooperatively during the check and received an exclusion order. Criminal proceedings under the Weapons Act were initiated because of the weapon he was carrying.

The incident underlines why railway stations and transport hubs regularly feature in joint operations. Especially during arrivals and departures, weapons, narcotics or other prohibited items can be discovered. Police assessed the seizure as an important contribution to hazard prevention in public space.

Arrest for unlawful residence

During the check of a 40-year-old Vietnamese national who had alighted from an arriving train, neither a valid identity document nor an entry document could be produced. The check established that the man had already been staying unlawfully in Germany for around two years. According to his own account, he had entered with the help of smugglers and had since lived without a fixed address. He was arrested. The competent immigration authority was informed of the case and involved in further processing.

The case shows how closely security checks at railway stations can be linked to residence-law examinations. The federal police contribute their responsibility for border and rail traffic, while the state police provide local knowledge and additional officers. According to the authorities, this division of labour was a central element of the focus operation.

Deportation detention order leads to further arrest

During a traffic stop, a 22-year-old Georgian national was checked as a passenger. A comparison with wanted-person records showed that a deportation detention order was in force against him. The man was arrested. In this case too, officers involved the competent immigration authority so that further steps could be coordinated. The authorities pointed out that such wanted hits often only become visible through intensive control measures.

The three highlighted incidents – weapons find, unlawful residence and deportation detention order – stood alongside further measures, including the seizure of narcotics. Precisely the combination of person checks, wanted-person comparisons and targeted examinations makes joint operations by police and federal police particularly effective from the authorities' perspective.

Cooperation to be continued

Police Soest drew a positive conclusion. The joint operation with the federal police had been successful and should noticeably increase the subjective sense of security at Lippstadt railway station and in the immediate surroundings. Both authorities agreed to intensify cooperation further and to repeat similar operations in future. Lippstadt railway station thus remains a recurring focus of joint control measures.

For the public, this means that anyone using the station area must also expect increased checks in future. At the same time, such operations are intended to stop offences and administrative violations at an early stage. The seizure of narcotics, the initiation of weapons-law proceedings and several arrests show, from the authorities' perspective, that the effort was justified.
