Custody at the bus station in Ravensburg
In the night to Thursday, a major police operation took place at the bus station in Ravensburg. The trigger was a 36-year-old man who had been reported by passers-by because of his conspicuous behaviour. Witnesses said the man was apparently under the influence of drugs and had caused unrest shortly after midnight. When the officers arrived, the 36-year-old reportedly behaved extremely aggressively and initially refused to calm down. Despite repeated attempts by the police to de-escalate the situation, he remained aggressive and abusive towards the officers.
The officers eventually took the man into custody. He was then presented at a specialist clinic to medically assess his condition and rule out possible health risks. During a search of his bag, police found a small quantity of amphetamine. Proceedings have now been initiated against the 36-year-old for unlawful possession of narcotics. A criminal case has been opened. The seized substance serves investigators as evidence in the pending proceedings.
Hit-and-run involving a parked vehicle
In parallel to this operation, Ravensburg police station is investigating another case of hit-and-run. Between Sunday and Wednesday, an unknown driver allegedly scraped a parked Ford in Federburgstraße and failed to report the damage. The damage to the parked car cannot yet be quantified. On Wednesday morning, Weingarten police station carried out a general traffic check that led to criminal proceedings. A 34-year-old driver showed signs of narcotics consumption. A drug screening test confirmed the officers' suspicion and indicated cannabis. The man then had to provide a blood sample at a hospital, the result of which will be decisive for further criminal assessment.
If the analysis confirms the suspicion, the driver faces a fine and a driving ban. In addition, police found that the foreign national had failed to convert his driving licence although he had been living in Germany for some time. This omission also led to a report to the public prosecutor's office. The case illustrates how routine traffic checks regularly uncover violations of narcotics law.
Wedding ring stolen in trick theft in Bad Waldsee
In Bad Waldsee, police are searching for an as yet unknown female suspect who allegedly stole an 88-year-old woman's wedding ring on Monday morning in Aulendorfer Straße. The woman had asked the stranger for directions to a pharmacy and then thanked her effusively. The suspect hugged the elderly woman, paid compliments and shook her hand vigorously. Only later did the victim notice her wedding ring was missing.
The suspect is described as about 160 centimetres tall, aged 25 to 30, with dark brown shoulder-length hair and a foreign accent. Weingarten police station is accepting information on 0751/803-6666. Investigators hope witness statements will help identify the woman and recover the stolen jewellery.
Intoxicated on the B32 near Herfatz
A patrol from Wangen im Allgäu police station checked a 38-year-old driver on Wednesday evening on the B32 near Herfatz. Officers noticed marijuana odour in the vehicle, among other things, and carried out a drug screening test with the man. This confirmed the suspicion and indicated both cannabis and amphetamine. The 38-year-old had to provide a blood sample at a hospital to determine the exact substance levels in his blood.
As the man has no fixed residence in Germany, officers also retained a security deposit to secure the proceedings. The incident again shows that mixed consumption of different narcotics is increasingly detected during traffic checks and that police respond with appropriate testing procedures.
Attempted deception during drug test in Leutkirch
In the night to Thursday, a patrol from Leutkirch im Allgäu police station stopped a 46-year-old driver for a traffic check. The man showed signs of narcotics consumption, which is why officers wanted to carry out a drug screening test. According to police, the 46-year-old repeatedly tried to hand over saliva and water as a urine sample to manipulate the result.
Only after these failed attempts did he have to provide a blood sample at a hospital. Further checks revealed that the foreign national did not hold a valid driving licence. Proceedings are under way against him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and driving without a licence. His car remained at the checkpoint.
